White Cliffs & Boulder Springs: July 21-27

Missionary work is WORK! It's crazy how busy missionaries are. I've noticed that as a missionary, I can care about everyone way more than I normally would. The Holy Ghost inspires us how to give comfort and what to say specifically to the people whom we are with. We spend so much time praying for everyone we know in our personal prayers. The power of prayer is real! I love how prayer is talked about repeatedly in the scriptures. I'm pretty sure it's found in the old testament, the new testament, the Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. It's found in several scripture mastery passages for a reason!

Sister Loveless and I got to help someone cut up a pool to use as roofing. It was pretty interesting. Everyone here is so selfless that it's hard to get them to let us come serve them! Sometimes we have to just show up when we know they could use a hand.

We had zone conference and zone training conference this week--lots of driving! Both conferences were wonderful. Somehow when we really listen, we can each get something out of a lesson or council no matter what it's about. For my companion and me, we noticed that we noticed things that we need to work on.

We also did exchanges right after zone conference! It's a little weird to go with a new companion for the day and teach people you've never seen before.

One thing I've noticed with a lot of our new members is that they love to have scripture study together! The vast majority of the new converts have have lessons each week. One group does an in-depth study of the Book of Mormon and another group likes us to teach them about Church history. It's so cool to learn as we're teaching them!

I love to see people come to church! Everyone who comes learns something when their heart is in the right place. There are so many people who came who told us that they were so glad they decided to come to church! The bigger the sacrifice, the bigger the reward. A lot of less-active members don't come to church because they think they're too busy. When they finally come, they realize that things work out! It's amazing. I love to see others' testimonies grow!

Missionary recitaiton: Work
I have often said that one of the greatest secrets of missionary work is work! If a missionary works, he will get the Spirit; if he gets the Spirit, he will teach by the Spirit; and if he teaches by the Spirit, he will touch the hearts of the people and he will be happy. There will be no homesickness, no worrying about family, for all time and talents and interests will be focused on the work of the ministry. Work, work, work--there is no satisfactory substitute, especially in missionary work.

I know that this is true! There is nothing as rewarding as working on things that really matter.

Have a wonderful week!
