White Cliffs & Boulder Springs: August 18-24

This week has been crazy! We've been traveling a lot--to Las Vegas to pick up my new companion, Sister Wilde, and to Lake Havasu for Zone Training Conference. It would be so nice if we could teleport so we don't waste so much time in the car! Sister Wilde is awesome. She's from Canada and she worked with ultrasound at a hospital. She's training me more than I'm training her!

Anna and Braeden are going to be baptized on 12 September! It's coming up really fast. Just a few weeks ago it seemed like it was ages away! Sister Wilde and I are learning how to coordinate everything. Luckily we have a wonderful ward mission leader for the ward that Anna and Braeden are in!

We had a really neat experience on Tuesday--I was with another sister from Lake Havasu who was training because Sister Loveless had already been transferred out. We were at an apartment complex about to knock on a potential investigator's door and this lady calls us over to her. She was sitting in her car about to take groceries inside. She asked us if we were here to see her and tells us her name is Anna. We were pretty confused! We had no idea who she was, but we went with it and helped her bring everything from her car inside. It turns out she thought we were Jehovah's Witnesses, but it took us a good 20 minutes to figure that out! She was so open to hearing more about the Book of Mormon. She also told us to go see her daughter and gave us a can of tuna to give to her. She wanted us to help her with a lot of other things, like getting her mail and delivering a check, but we can't really do that as missionaries. It will be exciting to see what will happen with her!

There's a really cool way Sister Loveless showed me how to teach lessons called the angel method. It comes from 1 Nephi 11, where Nephi asks to see and understand everything that Lehi saw in his visions. An angel shows him a scene, Nephi tells the angel what he sees, and then the angel expands upon Nephi's response. We can do the same thing with the pamphlets! It's been really cool to use them with Mary. She always had really deep insights about the paintings and she learned even more when she studied the Book of Mormon!

So, go read the Book of Mormon! It's the best book ever. I know that it is true and that you can have ANY question answered when you prayerfully search and study it.

Love,
Sister Bedont
