Hi everyone!
This week has gone by so fast! It seems like just yesterday I sent out an email. General Conference was awesome and I've been thinking a lot about it! I've been studying King Benjamin's counsel and I learned about the Atonement in a way I've never really viewed it before. I know that God's plan really is perfect! Mosiah 3 has something that I noticed repeats at least three times--and when something is repeated in the scriptures or in General Conference, you know it's important! King Benjamin repeatedly taught that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, when we have faith in Him. As I pondered that in addition to everything that happened with Collin, I realized that it's an eternal law that you can't get something for nothing. Through Christ's Atonement, which as already paid the price of your sins, you can have eternal life even though you're nowhere near qualifying for eternal life on your own. Your life is paid for through the infinite love of your Savior. To claim eternal life, accept His love and commit to follow Him at "all times and in all things and in all places".
Also, Mosiah 4:11-12 contains an amazing commitment and promised blessing: that of you remember God, humble yourself, pray, and stand in faith, you will always rejoice, be filled with the love of God, retain a remission of your sins, and grow in your knowledge of God.
"...As ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel...if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true." Mosiah 4:11-12
I love the Book of Mormon! Read it today! If you need a copy, just ask me and I'll find a way to send one over :)
We found a really sweet girl named Ruby that we've been teaching this past week. She's been through a lot and loves the Church! She's going to be baptized on May 28. Our lessons with her have been interesting because we've been on exchanges for every single one. She talks extremely quietly and I have the hardest time figuring out what she says, but she's amazing because she writes down her questions from our lessons and from what she's read in the Book of Mormon!
We had a referral for a YSA guy named Sawyer, so we visited him and taught him part of the Restoration and set a time for our next lesson on Saturday night. On Saturday afternoon as we were saying a prayer before we went into another lesson, I felt impressed to ask Heavenly Father to let Sawyer invite a friend to our lesson so we could teach both Sawyer and his friend. So guess what happened? We went to Sawyer's lesson and his friend named Dean was there! It was amazing! Dean was raised in a strong denominational Christian religion and realizes that some things he's been taught just don't make sense. He asked a lot of questions about the Plan of Salvation and we taught it to both of them by mainly asking them questions. It was awesome because they talked a ton and were able to figure the whole thing out on their own, with questions from us to prompt them to the next step! I've had a lot of experiences this past week that have shown me how perfect God's Plan of Happiness is. It's wonderful!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Keep watching/listening to/reading the General Conference talks!
Love,
Sister Bedont
